Job summary

Duke Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Durham seeks a registered nurse to deliver specialized neonatal care within a multidisciplinary team. You will plan, provide, and document nursing care for critically ill newborns, following orders, policies, and family-centered care principles.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, NC RN licensure or compact license, and BLS certification. The schedule features three 12-hour shifts weekly, with rotating day and night coverage and

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• BSN within seven years of start date if not already obtained.
• Current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure.
• BLS certification required prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in accordance with provider orders, policies, and procedures for neonatal patients.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized neonatal care.
• Collaborate with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team to support optimal outcomes.
• Delegate and supervise care activities for licensed and unlicensed personnel and monitor patient status.
• Participate in orientation, ongoing education, and performance improvement activities while supporting families through education.
