Job summary

Duke University’s NICU in Durham, NC, is a high-acuity neonatal program providing care for over 1,000 infants yearly. The unit includes Special Care, Transitional, and Intensive Care Nurseries, working within a family-centered, multidisciplinary team.

We seek a Registered Nurse to plan, provide, and document neonatal care, collaborate with neonatologists, and support families through education and emotional support in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate’s Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program.
• BSN required within seven years of start date if not already obtained.
• Current or eligible North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in accordance with orders, policies, and procedures for neonatal patients.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized neonatal care.
• Collaborate with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Delegate and supervise care activities for licensed and unlicensed personnel and monitor patient status.
• Participate in orientation, ongoing education, and performance improvement activities while supporting families.
