Ochsner Health System in Lafayette, LA is seeking an RN for the NICU. Night shift, 12 hours, 3 days/week, 13-week contract. Requires an active LA RN license, BLS, NRP, and 2 years NICU experience.

Associates degree required; Bachelor's preferred. Excellent teamwork and organizational skills are essential. Compensation includes $21/hour with a $1,246 weekly stipend plus $756 weekly base pay, for a total weekly pay of $2,002.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years in NICU or neonatal care.
  • State licensure: Current Louisiana RN license; BLS and NRPN required or preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time management, judgment and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the Nursing Process.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks while maintaining patient safety and privacy.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability and participate in unit/department goals.

Job Title: RN - NICU

Shift: Night Shift 12 Hour
This job is considered a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions; maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department's strategic goals and objectives and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports Ochsner's philosophy of nursing.

Education Required - Associates degree
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Experience Required - 2 years

Current State of Louisiana RN License.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP)
Preferred -Certification in clinical specialty area

Effectively uses the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
Assesses learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.

Utilizes data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
