Job summary

IU Health is seeking an upcoming or recent RN graduate for NICU positions caring for infants 32 weeks and above who require extended hospitalization after level III/IV NICU stays. A minimum of one year RN experience is preferred, with a focus on respiratory support, feeding tubes, and continuous monitoring as needed.

The NICU care team includes respiratory therapists, speech, occupational and physical therapists, and lactation consultants.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Requires active RN license in Indiana or a valid NLC.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is required; exceptions may apply with >2 years acute care experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA is required.
• Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and draw blood.
• Administer medications, therapies, and nutritional plans per NICU physicians.
• Assist with procedures such as IV insertions, labs, and tube feedings.
• Collaborate with NICU team including nurses, physicians, and APPs.
• Provide comfort and support to infants and their families.
• Assist NICU physicians in procedures and treatments.
• Operate and adjust specialized NICU equipment.
• Formulate nursing plans and evaluate treatment outcomes.
• Comfort sick newborns and support anxious parents.
