Job summary

The role uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients and families, while monitoring conditions, coordinating with the care team, and upholding safety culture. It may involve float to other units and requires BSN preferred with BLS and RN licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges in applicable state(s) (board compacts acceptable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care with patients and families.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, and collaborates with the care team to improve outcomes.
• Upholds a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement.
• Evaluates patient and unit outcomes and takes appropriate action.
• May administer medications, treatments, and therapies per clinical protocols.
• Demonstrates effective communication and fosters teamwork and appropriate delegation.
• Completes required education and maintains certifications.
• Follows ANA Code of Ethics and ethical decision-making in patient care.
• Delegates to RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed personnel as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• May float to other units to meet patient care needs.
• Provides age-appropriate care per department standards.
