Job summary

CJW Medical Center in Richmond, VA, seeks a Clinical Nurse Coordinator RN NICU for Johnston-Willis Hospital to lead and coordinate NICU nursing care on the night shift. This role focuses on patient-centered care, staff development, and unit leadership within a large hospital network.

The CNC will collaborate with nursing leadership to drive quality outcomes, mentor staff, and ensure policy compliance while delivering safe, compassionate care to fragile neonates.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Multistate Compact.
• 3+ years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• 1+ year of NICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• 1 year of leadership experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centred care.
• Participates in ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services in the unit, with management team.
• Performs therapeutic patient-centered nursing care to infants that may be premature and may have serious health conditions.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to create an environment of teamwork.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Implements nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly rounds.
• Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training staff; supports performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor in line with productivity guidelines.
• Supports inventory control and helps manage supplies and equipment.
