Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a NICU Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to deliver expert medication management for critically ill neonates and to support the NICU team. The role encompasses direct patient care, education of pharmacy students and residents, development of protocols, participation in clinical reviews and research to improve patient outcomes.

Texas licensure and a PharmD with PGY2 in Pediatrics or Critical Care are required.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree with PGY2 residency in Pediatrics or Critical Care.
• Licensed to practice pharmacy in Texas.
• Proven NICU clinical pharmacy experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with pharmacy and hospital computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical pharmacy services to neonates in the NICU.
• Develop and maintain communication systems to ensure effective information flow among staff.
• Act as a mentor and educator for pharmacy students, staff, and residents.
• Identify opportunities for cost containment and improvements in clinical pharmacy services.
• Plan and manage resources to ensure continuity of care across various settings.
• Participate in clinical research to evaluate drug and regimen outcomes.
• Develop and implement utilization reviews and medication use assessments.
• Oversee the clinical students and residency program to ensure high-quality educational experiences.
• Ensure safety and adherence to all policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of service.
