Job summary

Vectrona is seeking a NGB J52 Senior Strategic Analyst in Arlington, VA for immediate start. The role focuses on ensuring National Guard equities are understood within DoD planning and strategy, producing actionable guidance and decision-support materials for senior leaders.

You will review guidance, conduct analyses, and develop papers and briefings for top officers. A TS/SCI clearance and mastery of strategic policy are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a Joint Staff J5 or Combatant Command J5 environment.
• 3+ years in preparing national level strategy and policy papers for senior DoD leaders.
• Familiarity with Joint Strategic Planning System components.
• Familiarity with Global Force Management processes.
• Understanding National Guard missions in homeland and overseas operations.
• Knowledge of National Guard duty statuses (State Active Duty, Title 32, Title 10).
• Familiarity with DoD Directive 5105.77 and core National Guard docs.
• Experience supporting National Guard is a plus.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, planning and coordination skills.
• Ability to tailor communications for senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize work amid changing requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Review Joint Strategic Planning System documents and related strategic guidance


• Conduct analysis and recommend comments, inputs, and courses of action


• Conduct research and analysis to support senior leader efforts to advance National Guard equities


• Develop strategy, policy, and briefing products in support of National Guard strategic initiatives


• Prepare national level strategy and policy papers and briefings for General Officers, Flag Officers, and DoD Senior Executives


• Participate in meetings and workshops concerning National Guard missions and priorities


• Support coordination with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and other DoD stakeholders


• Help identify strategic issues, risks, and planning considerations that may affect the National Guard


• Manage competing priorities and adjust quickly to changing requirements and deadlines

Preferred Education/Degree:

• Master's degree in National Security, Government Policy, International Affairs, or a related discipline required


• Senior Service College preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of successful experience in a Joint Staff J5 or Combatant Command J5 environment


• 3+ years of experience preparing national level strategy and policy papers and briefings for senior DoD leaders


• Familiarity with key components of the Joint Strategic Planning System


• Familiarity with Global Force Management processes


• Understanding of National Guard missions in both homeland and overseas operations


• Knowledge of National Guard duty statuses, including State Active Duty, Title 32, and Title 10


• Familiarity with core National Guard governing documents, including DoD Directive 5105.77


• Experience with or supporting the National Guard preferred
