Job summary

Ooltewah Middle School is seeking a coach to join its athletics program, with emphasis on compliance with state health and safety standards and ongoing professional development.

Candidates must complete NFHS coaching courses and health/safety certifications, with ASEP exemptions noted for those who completed the specified course before 2013. Annual certificate copies must be kept on file.

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches must be completed prior to assuming the position.
• ASEP Coaches Education Course completed prior to May 15, 2013 will exempt the individual from NFHS courses.
• All coaches must complete the NFHS COVID-19 Course.

Responsibilities

• State Law requirements must be observed (link provided in ad).
• School Level AD should keep concussion Certificate on file every year.
• School Level AD should keep Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate on file every year.
• Comply with TSSAA/TMSAA health and safety policies when applicable (links provided).
• When applicable, complete and file copies of the Fundamentals of Coaching course.

Overview

Ooltewah Middle School is a 6-8 school located in Ooltewah, TN, just outside of Chattanooga. Teachers at Ooltewah Middle can expect a supportive and collaborative climate, including the following supports:

• New Teacher Academy led by our instructional coach, which meets monthly to discuss ideas and solutions
• Mentor teacher for new teachers
• Every teacher is a member of a grade level team, and each core teacher has a content partner that meets for collaborative planning weekly.
• Instructional Coach who provides job-embedded professional development

Ooltewah Middle School has a strong Fine Arts Program. We believe that students need to have multiple opportunities and outlets to express themselves in different ways.

Responsibilities

Non-faculty Coaches and Classified Employee Coaches must complete the NFHS “Fundamentals of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses prior to assuming the position. Coaches who have successfully completed the ASEP Coaches Education Course prior to May 15, 2013, will not be required to take the NFHS courses.
