Job summary

Bread for the World is seeking a Fall 2026 Next Gen Organizing Intern to help build a nationwide student network through outreach, recruitment, and leadership development programs.

Based in Washington, DC or remote in PA, the internship is 15 hours per week and supports campus events, advocacy campaigns, and trainings, connecting students to leadership opportunities and action on federal and state policies.

Qualifications

• Passion for social justice and hunger advocacy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Interest in organizing, leadership development or public policy.
• Ability to work independently and in a remote environment.
• Experience with outreach, event planning, and social media engagement.
• Current college student or recent graduate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support national and local organizing efforts by recruiting and engaging students and young adults.
• Research and build relationships with student groups, faculty, chaplains, and community partners to grow the NextGen network.
• Plan and coordinate campus events such as film screenings, discussions and advocacy activities.
• Connect students to trainings and leadership opportunities and support Student Leadership Teams on campus.
• Work on additional projects as requested.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The next gen organizing intern will help build and mobilize a nationwide (and local) network of students through outreach and recruitment, supporting leadership development programs, coordinating events, and helping students take action on federal and state policy priorities.

MAIN PROJECTS:

• Support national and local organizing efforts by recruiting and engaging students and young adults in advocacy campaigns and events.
• Research and build relationships with student groups, faculty, chaplains, and community partners to grow Bread for the World's NextGen network.
• Help plan and coordinate campus events, such as film screenings, discussions, and advocacy activities.
• Connect students to trainings and leadership opportunities and support the development of Student Leadership Teams on campus
• Work on additional projects as requested.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Passion for social justice, advocacy, and ending hunger and poverty.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Interest in organizing, leadership development, or public policy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
• Experience with or willingness to learn outreach, event planning, and social media engagement.
• Current college student or recent graduate preferred.

• This internship can be based in Washington, DC or remote in PA.
