Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a CPU Core RTL Design Engineer to shape next-generation processor cores, coordinating with architecture, verification, and physical design teams to optimize core pipelines and microarchitecture features.

You will work on load/store, decode, or other CPU subsystems, driving performance, power efficiency, and timing, while addressing complex design challenges in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL development in CPU/SoC/ASIC environments.
• Understanding of modern CPU architecture and out-of-order concepts.
• Experience with logic design and high-performance processor pipelines.
• Familiarity with synthesis, place-and-route, static timing analysis, and timing closure.
• Ability to debug and optimize designs with performance and verification teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement RTL for CPU core pipeline components and related logic.
• Contribute to microarchitecture definition for next-generation cores.
• Collaborate with architecture, verification, performance, and physical design teams to deliver optimized designs.
• Analyze and improve performance, power, area, and timing characteristics.
• Support design verification, synthesis, timing closure, and physical design efforts.
• Investigate and resolve pre-silicon and post-silicon issues.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate design alternatives and align on trade-offs.
• Contribute to scalable RTL methodologies, libraries, tools, and engineering best practices.
