Base pay range

$45.00/hr - $53.00/hr

Our client is the editorial team of a global tech leader seeking a Senior Editor for their newsroom. This is a fully remote, for 12 months, 40 hours/week assignment with likely extension. You must be able to work EST hours.

Note: out of hours shift work is essential in this role, as is a willingness to respond to unpredictable breaking news events. Working pattern will include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

The Senior Editor Will

• Curate news for the news aggregation app, including issuing breaking news alerts, compiling briefings and researching deep-dives on topical issues
• Utilize real time data to extract insights and guide editorial decision-making and content placement
• Identify issues relating to impartiality, undue partisanship and fake news, and filter out any content that breaches editorial standards
• Guide and supervise curation by junior editors during news shifts to ensure standards are maintained
• Understand, and be the guardian of, the editorial tone of voice
• Work with Editor-in-Chief to build and manage shift schedules to ensure seamless editorial operations across multiple time zones and countries
• Work cohesively with the British editorial team
• Develop positive working relationships with content partners and other teams within organization, including giving/receiving feedback
  
  

The Senior Editor Must Have

• 8+ years of experience working as an editor or journalist in a US newsroom including hands-on news desk experience
• Legal and compliance knowledge of US and Canadian news
• Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize data to draw editorial conclusions
• Bachelor's degree in related field

• Experience driving user engagement through content curation
• Experience supervising junior editors
• Knowledge of UK media law
