This role requires a take-charge attitude during breaking news, strong scanner/listening skills, digital platform fluency, and the ability to manage multiple sources and crews under pressure.

Qualifications

• Experience listening to police scanners.
• Experience with digital platforms, especially social media.
• Working knowledge of FTP or willingness to learn FTP video transfer.

Responsibilities

• Listen to multiple police scanners covering the market and identify compelling content.
• Gather and organize press releases, emails, calls and tips; decide what yields content for newscasts.
• Assist news management with content gathering and planning.
• Assist producers, digital editors and reporters with story gathering.
• Keep track of crews and communicate with them in the field.
• Post content to all digital platforms including push alerts and social posts.
