Job summary

WMTV-TV/Gray Media in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a high-energy, digital-first Newscast Producer to join our award-winning team. You will own evening newscasts on-air or streaming, lead your own streaming show, and jump in to help across the week.

You will write for TV and digital platforms, collaborate with News Director and Executive Producer, and help advance our digital-first newsroom culture with urgency and accuracy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own breaking news: push alerts, live streams, updates on TV and digital platforms.
• Drive the News Now Desk: manage live feeds, user-generated content, and real-time updates.
• Write for every platform: conversational TV scripts and AP-style digital copy.
• Associate producer duties: write content and VOSOTs from feeds when not in the producer chair.
• Collaborate with News Director and Executive Producer to execute a digital-first strategy.

WMTV 15 News wants a high-energy, digital-first Newscast Producer to join our award-winning team. You will be our utility player: own evening newscasts on-air or streaming, lead your own streaming show, and jump in to help across the week.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Own breaking news: Act with urgency, send push alerts, launch live streams, update WMTV15News.com as news breaks
• Drive the News Now Desk: Handle live feeds, user-generated content, and real-time updates across TV, web, apps, and social
• Write for every platform: Conversational scripts for TV, sharp AP Style copy for digital, aligned to WMTV brand pillars
• Associate producer: Write content and VOSOTs from photographer video and feeds when not in the producer chair
• Partner with leadership: Report to and work with News Director and Executive Producer to execute digital-first strategy

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Digital-first mindset: Comfortable jumping between TV rundowns, CMS, social and streaming tools
• Urgent & impactful writing: Punchy TV teases to detailed digital articles, AP Style as second language
• Strong news judgment: You know what matters to Madison and go beyond the press release
• Urgency and composure: Thrive under deadline, stay calm when breaking news flips the script
• Desire to win: Positive attitude, reflect on work and apply feedback
• Foundation: College degree in journalism preferred, 1+ years newsroom or digital producing preferred, but we will train the right person
• Time management: Work quickly with accuracy, multitask and prioritize
