OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV Stations owns and operates 29 full‑power broadcast television stations in the U.S., including stations in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas and duopolies in 11 DMAs. Eighteen stations are affiliated with the FOX Network. The stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news per week and distribute sports, entertainment and syndicated content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The News Operations Manager is the strategic link between editorial vision and technical execution. The role coordinates directly between News and Engineering, supervising teams across field operations, streaming and broadcast studio production, and digital distribution. The Manager oversees newsroom systems and advanced streaming technologies such as TriCaster and LiveU, translating editorial needs into technical requirements and partnering on capital technology procurement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead advanced technology strategy and provide technical support for newsroom content creation across streaming, digital, OTT and traditional broadcast platforms.
  • Supervise key personnel involved in field operations, live streaming and post‑production.
  • Manage software systems critical to newsroom workflows and advise on best practices, emerging streaming trends and other technological opportunities.
  • Evaluate and implement tools that support content creation, delivery and performance measurement.
  • Partner with news leadership on budgetary decisions related to technology procurement and upgrades.
  • Act as liaison between the News Department and Engineering and IT departments.
TECHNOLOGY OVERSIGHT
  • Administer and support newsroom editing systems (e.g., BitCentral, Premiere).
  • Serve as the station’s lead iNews administrator, responsible for user support, maintenance and training.
  • Manage implementation, upgrades and staff training for third‑party newsroom software including Megaphone, WSI, Baron’s, LiveU, Starlink and other content or transmission tools.
  • Oversee systems related to tower cameras, weather data integrations, weather cameras and other visual storytelling platforms.
PERSONEEN AND EQUIPMENT SUPERVISION
  • Schedule and manage photojournalists and editors.
  • Maintain news vehicles and field equipment, ensuring readiness and logistics.
  • Order and track all newsroom equipment and technology purchases.
  • Manage the editing staff, including scheduling, training and performance coaching.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Initiate, track and approve purchases through Coupa in coordination with the VP of News.
  • Provide input on capital planning and vendor relationships related to newsroom technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong understanding of live streaming workflows and technical systems.
  • Flexible to work off‑hours, nights, weekends and holidays as required by the news cycle.
  • Background in photojournalism, production, editing, IT, streaming systems or engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and cross‑functional projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between editorial and technical language.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving and leadership capabilities with a “can‑do” attitude.
EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum four years’ experience as a News Operations Manager in a major market.
  • Valid driver’s license.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift or move up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay range: $100,000–115,000 annually. Eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
