Job summary

The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, seeks a full-time Laboratory Quality Assurance Specialist for the Newborn Screening program. The role ensures accuracy, compliance, and safety in newborn screening testing, maintaining QA/QC records, SOPs, and regulatory adherence (CAP, CLIA, HIPAA) on-site at WSLH Henry Mall.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology (required).
• Advanced knowledge of CLIA, CAP and HIPAA guidelines.
• Strong data interpretation, technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain training materials and monitor compliance with accreditation requirements.
• Collect quality metrics and coordinate with providers to ensure timely newborn screening.
• Perform internal and external laboratory audits and respond to audit requests.
• Provide project information to leadership and manage portions of project budgets.
• Prepare and review SOPs, QA/QC records and laboratory workflows.
