Job summary

The Utah Public Health Laboratory seeks a Health Program Specialist III - NBS Educator to educate healthcare professionals and families about newborn screening, disorders, and follow-up care to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.

Travel across Utah is required; hybrid work arrangement with in-office and remote components. Applicants should have a public health or nursing background and 1–2 years of public health education experience, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of public health education experience
• Ability to communicate information clearly in writing and verbally
• Public health education background preferred
• Passion for public service and newborns

Responsibilities

• Educate healthcare providers and families about newborn screening processes and follow-up care.
• Create and update educational programs and resources for various audiences in the NBS process.
• Assess the quality and effectiveness of educational interventions to improve follow-up and education.
• Share information on new disorders, best practices, and policies to stakeholders.
• Ensure integrity of newborn screening samples and provide high-quality phone support to clinical partners.
• Manage operational workflows for the Newborn Screening Advisory Committee, including meeting notifications and minutes.
