Job summary

UCLA Health, part of the California Newborn Screening Program (NBS), seeks a Program Specialist to perform health reporting, administrative tasks, data management, and case follow-up to support statewide newborn screening activities.

Reporting to the Program Director, the role involves preparing reports, creating educational materials, and presenting data using Microsoft Office and BI tools. On-call weekends may be required after reporting metrics are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to work with pediatric providers, clinics, and families.
• Strong data reporting and charting skills.

Responsibilities

• Support result reporting and case management for birthing providers, facilities, pediatricians, and families.
• Maintain accurate program data and prepare routine and ad hoc reports using SIS, BI/PEP reports, and MS Office tools.
• Develop facility-specific reports, educational materials, newsletters, and presentations.
• Participate in ASC site visits, educational events, and quality improvement planning.
• Provide follow-up for positive, incomplete, or not-obtained newborn screening specimens; assist with weekends/holidays on-call as needed.
