Job summary

Schwartz Farms is seeking a Day One Specialist to provide attentive care to sows and newborn piglets during the critical first days of life. This full-time role supports farrowing operations, with a Wednesday–Sunday schedule and Monday-Tuesday off, under supervision of the Department Leader.

You will assist with pre-farrow preparation, sow induction, and day-one piglet care, ensuring colostrum intake and proper housing.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform hands-on care for sows and newborn piglets.
• Ability to follow department leadership and procedures.
• Willingness to work in a farm environment and adhere to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-farrow room setup and sow preparation.
• Induce sows and assist with proper farrowing.
• Care for piglets on day one and through day three, ensuring colostrum intake.
• Monitor and document sow and piglet status and inventory.
• Assist with movement and housing of sows and piglets as directed.
• Follow bio-security and animal welfare protocols.
• Maintain safe, clean work environments and participate in training.
