The role supports pre-farrow preparations, inductions, and care for newborn piglets, with a Thursday–Monday schedule and Tue/Wed off. Responsibilities include maintaining bio-security, adhering to PQA requirements, assisting with equipment maintenance, and documenting inventory.

Qualifications

• Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Follow bio-security protocols and policies.
• Maintain PQA certification status.
• Adhere to SFI animal welfare policy and training requirements.
• Commit to safe work practices in a barn environment.
• Willing to work a Thursday–Monday schedule (off Tue/Wed).

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Leader with preparation of pre-farrow rooms.
• Perform inducing of sows and proper farrowing.
• Ensure day-one pig care and identify piglets needing nurse sow or litter swap.
• Move animals as directed and transfer/size piglets as instructed.
• Treat and vaccinate sows and piglets per protocol; maintain lactating sows.
• Process and castrate piglets; feed lactating sows per protocol.
• Maintain documentation (weekly/monthly inventory of sows and piglets).
• Assist in bio-security practices and ensure safe work environment.
• Exhibit teamwork and engage in new projects; maintain SFI bio-security policies.
