Connexion Systems & Engineering in Smithsfield, RI is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to drive mechanical design and manufacturing initiatives for plastic dispensing and packaging solutions.

This hands-on role focuses on mechanical product design, thermoplastic injection molding, tooling development, prototyping, and product testing, bringing concepts through validation to full-scale manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong SolidWorks proficiency for 3D models and drawings.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic injection molding and DFM.
• Hands-on rapid prototyping and 3D printing experience.
• Experience with test plans, testing, and documentation.
• Proficiency with metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs).
• Experience with ERP or PDM and BOM maintenance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product development activities from concept to production launch.
• Design mechanical components using SolidWorks with 3D models, drawings, tolerances.
• Develop rapid prototypes and 3D-printed components to validate form and fit.
• Support thermoplastic injection molding, mold design, tooling, and production implementation.
• Coordinate tooling qualification and BOM maintenance.
• Develop and execute product test plans and inspections.
