Job summary

Silgan Dispensing Systems seeks a New Product Development Engineer to drive dispensing-closure projects from concept to production launch. You will design in SolidWorks, develop rapid prototypes, and coordinate tooling and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years mechanical product design and development experience.
• SolidWorks proficiency with 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic injection molding and tooling development.
• Ability to develop test plans, fixtures, and basic statistics.
• Experience with measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
• Familiarity with ERP/product-data systems; JDE preferred.
• Willingness to travel ~15% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive dispensing-closure and packaging projects from concept through production.
• Develop concepts and detailed designs in SolidWorks with drawings and specs.
• Create rapid prototypes (3D-printed) for fit and function assessment.
• Coordinate tooling pre-production and scale designs to production molds.
• Develop test plans, fixtures, and qualification activities.
• Troubleshoot existing products and processes with measurement and data.
• Collaborate with Sales, customers, Operations, Quality, and suppliers.
• Prepare technical documentation and customer-ready presentations.
• Communicate requirements to vendors and monitor supplier quality.
• Maintain bills of materials and related data in JDE; support calibration records.
