Job summary

Silgan Dispensing in the United States is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to drive packaging projects from concept to production launch. You will design in SolidWorks, create rapid prototypes, qualify molds, and support automation and testing to meet customer needs.

The role requires strong collaboration with Sales, Operations, Quality, and suppliers, plus hands-on troubleshooting and documentation for product and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Three or more years of mechanical product design and development experience; strong production-ready track record preferred.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawings with tolerances.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic injection molding, mold design, and rapid prototyping.
• Ability to develop test plans and analyze results with basic statistics.

Responsibilities

• Drive dispensing-closure and packaging projects from concept through production implementation.
• Develop product concepts and detailed designs in SolidWorks with 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Create rapid prototypes (3D-printed) and evaluate fit, function, and manufacturability.
• Coordinate tooling, pre-production samples, and mold scale-up to production.
• Develop and execute test plans, fixtures, and dimensional studies; document results.
• Troubleshoot existing products and processes; support design improvements.
• Collaborate with Sales, customers, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and suppliers; provide responsive service.
• Prepare engineering reports, procedures, and customer presentations.
• Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and suppliers to ensure production readiness.
• Communicate requirements to vendors and monitor supplier performance.
