Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • 5+ years' experience in a medical office setting or customer service.
  • Advanced degree preferred and may substitute for some experience.
  • College-level coursework in business, accounting, or health care administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of precertification requirements, CMS medical necessity, and third-party billing is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Act as point of contact for all new patients for department.
  • Coordinate scheduling of new patient appointments with appropriate physician/group.
  • Prepare patients for first visit with necessary information (records, referrals, copays).
  • Coordinate retrieval and flow of outside medical records for visits.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and department protocols.
  • Ensure patients are registered and referred to Financial Counseling.
