Job summary

HTC Global Services seeks a New Model Program Engineer to drive the launch of vehicle and powertrain programs in North American plants. You will manage program delivery, coordinate pre-production builds, and ensure timing and budget adherence while guiding cross-functional teams through complex transitions into production.

Qualifications

  • Requires 4+ years using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.
  • 2+ years applying statistical thinking to problem-solving.
  • 1+ years in Powertrain/Vehicle Operations, manufacturing, design, or program management with launch experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a gatekeeper for New Model Programs, ensuring processes and standards are followed throughout the launch lifecycle.
  • Oversee pre-production build events to meet quality and efficiency objectives.
  • Coordinate ordering, building, testing, and disposition of pre-production vehicles.
  • Execute the Pre-Production Drive Fleet Evaluation Plan.
  • Manage Product Development changes with cross-functional teams and ensure prototyped builds are proofed.
  • Lead build issues management and drive timely resolution.
  • Co-chair launch meetings and resolve part support issues for each pre-production build event.
  • Manage launch budget approval processes within the overall program budget.
  • Prepare weekly New Model Program assessment reports and highlight risks.
  • Support senior management with program status, challenges, and solutions.
  • Coordinate the integration of launch teams into manufacturing plants.
  • Maintain a list of issues and drive cross-functional resolution.
  • Travel as required.

Overview / Summary

The New Model Program Engineer plays a critical role in the successful launch of new vehicle and powertrain models within North American manufacturing plants. This position is responsible for program management and delivery of new vehicle programs, including issue resolution, quality and status assessments, vehicle fleet management, budget execution, and adherence to established timing.

This is an individual contributor role focused on launch excellence, cross-functional collaboration, timely communication of launch status and risks, and successful integration of launch teams into manufacturing plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key gatekeeper for New Model Programs, ensuring adherence to established processes and standards throughout the launch lifecycle.
  • Manage and oversee pre-production build events to ensure they meet program objectives for quality and efficiency.
  • Manage the ordering, building, testing, and final disposition of pre-production vehicles.
  • Execute the Pre-Production Drive Fleet Evaluation Plan.
  • Manage the approval process for Product Development changes and ensure changes are integrated and proven ahead of prototype builds.
  • Lead the build issues management process for cross-functional program teams, driving issues to resolution and timely closure.
  • Co-chair relevant launch meetings and proactively drive resolution of part support issues for each pre-production build event.
  • Manage launch budget approval processes and execute elements controlled by New Model Programs within the overall launch budget.
  • Prepare and present weekly New Model Program assessment reports, providing program status updates and highlighting potential risks.
  • Support senior management presentations by communicating program status, challenges, and proposed solutions.
  • Facilitate the transition and integration of launch teams into manufacturing plants.
  • Maintain a list of issues and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
  • Travel as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • 2+ years of experience with problem-solving disciplines using statistical mindsets.
  • 1+ years of experience in Powertrain/Vehicle Operations manufacturing, design, and/or program management, with project management or launch experience.
  • Program management experience focused on maintaining issues and working with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Program management experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Experience with processes and methodologies involved in bringing new vehicle models from development into full-scale production.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Management and Issue Management.
