HTC Global Services is seeking a Product Engineer – Electrical/Electronic to support vehicle electrical systems and harness design in Chicago. You will lead containment actions, root-cause analysis, and coordinate with engineering teams throughout development and production launches.

The role focuses on low-voltage distribution, DFMEA resolution, and engineering changes, ensuring manufacturing readiness and quality improvements across the value stream.

Responsibilities

Product Engineer – Electrical/Electronic

Overview / Summary

The Product Engineer – Electrical/Electronic is responsible for supporting vehicle electrical systems, electrical distribution systems, and related quality and design activities. This role leads the resolution of electrical design and quality issues by defining concerns, determining initial root causes, coordinating with appropriate engineering teams, and ensuring containment actions are implemented.

The role supports low-voltage electrical distribution systems, wiring harness design, engineering changes, vehicle builds, quality investigations, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead resolution of design and quality issues by defining concerns and determining initial root causes related to design, suppliers, or manufacturing.
• Lead resolution of low-voltage electrical distribution system (EDS) issues.
• Develop and release wiring harness designs for vehicle electrical distribution systems.
• Resolve DFMEA and design-for-manufacturing issues with harness suppliers.
• Support daily warranty claim binning, triage incoming claims, and prioritize containment actions based on claim count and priority.
• Support the engineering change process, including coordinating plant trials and managing change sign-off activities.
• Ensure manufacturing readiness for design changes.
• Support error-proofing systems and identify resolutions for internal and external issues.
• Attend subsystem meetings and work with supporting engineering teams to resolve quality and design issues.
• Review end-of-line electrical issues, triage diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and develop work plans for resolution.
• Use quality systems and DTC information to identify customer issues.
• Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact.
• Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of identified issues using applicable tracking systems.
• Develop roadmaps to eliminate high-impact internal and external issues.
• Develop business cases for engineering changes using applicable facts and data.
• Lead engineering changes from initial concept through production launch.
• Support resolution of vehicle electrical system and wiring-related quality concerns.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in system engineering.
• Experience with root cause analysis.
• Experience with quality improvement.
• Experience with low-voltage wiring.
• Familiarity with developing and releasing vehicle wiring harness designs for electrical distribution systems.
• Experience resolving DFMEA and design-for-manufacturing issues with harness suppliers.
• Hands-on experience with OEM wiring design tools, such as CATIA/Capital or equivalent schematic-capture and harness-design software.
• Knowledge of SAE/USCAR wiring standards.
• Ability to read and mark up 2D/3D wiring diagrams and geometry.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new assignments and functional engineering areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Teamcenter/CAD tools for managing engineering change processes.
• Experience checking in/out CAD and wiring data.
• Experience navigating BOM structures and tracking release status of harness/EDS components.
• Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
• Functional knowledge of vehicle wiring systems.
