Job summary

GlobalFoundries seeks a new college graduate to join the Device Engineering team as a Silicon Photonics Compact Modeling Engineer. The role focuses on developing, validating, and supporting production‑quality compact models for silicon photonic devices used in PDKs.

You will collaborate across technology development, characterization, design enablement, and EDA teams to enable accurate simulation and customer success, with emphasis on automation and robust modeling workflows.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optics or related field; GPA 3.0.
• English fluency (written & verbal).
• Internship or co-op experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in projects, competitions, or workplaces.
• Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compact models for silicon photonic devices; perform parameter extraction and model calibration using DC, RF/S-parameter, optical, and transient data.
• Support model quality assurance and release readiness with testbenches, regression methodologies, and validation reports.
• Contribute to Process Design Kit development, documentation, verification, and release activities; support integration of models into customer design flows and EDA platforms.
• Collaborate with device engineering, characterization, process integration, and design enablement teams to understand modeling requirements; develop automation and scripting solutions.
