Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, invites new graduate RNs to join the Medicine Progressive Care Unit for a yearlong transition-to-practice residency. The 24-bed unit focuses on medical and pulmonary care with robust mentorship and a structured orientation.

This full-time role offers 36 hours per week with rotating days and nights plus weekends, relocation assistance up to $10,000, and support to obtain NC RN licensure before start.

Qualifications

• Final semester nursing students or graduates within the past 12 months.
• No more than 6 months of RN experience.
• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• NC RN licensure required prior to first day of employment.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education - participate in learning needs, attend education programs, assess readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of Care - identify outcomes and discuss with interdisiplinary team.
• Implementation - care for patients with complex problems and follow policies.
• Leadership - develop goals, promote collaboration, support unit goals.
• Patient Assessment - synthesize data to determine care priorities and discharge planning.
• Planning - collaborate with patient/family to update plan of care using multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - read journals and bring ideas to the staff for applicability.
