Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute invites new graduate RNs to join a comprehensive nurse residency program on our Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, building clinical expertise from admission through discharge while participating in a robust nurse residency program designed to foster growth and confidence.

Rotations across Neuro units are available, with day and evening shift coverage to support professional development and patient care excellence.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience or transitioning to acute direct care

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Document inpatients’ medical records.
  • Participate in a residency core curriculum.
  • Establish and revise priorities for patient care based on acuity and resources.
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and take corrective action.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00am - 7:30pm and 7:00pm - 7:30am

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).
  • Respond to dataindicatingrisk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or preventrisk.
  • Seeksupervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Documentinpatients’ medical records.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Newgrador less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one-year current acute direct patient care RN experience
  • *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
