Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland is seeking a New Grad RN Resident for the Float Pool at the Main Campus. The role supports postoperative urology & overflow surgical patients with focus on pain control, bowel/bladder function, DVT prevention, and ambulation.

You will work rotating day/night shifts with a one-year, accredited Nurse Residency program, nine tracks, and opportunities for loan repayment, tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Current state licensure as an RN.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care from introduction to discharge.
• Interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering health education as needed.
• Grow as an RN and gain hands‑on experience in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Cleveland Clinic's Float Pool is dedicated to the care of post‑operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric, however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion.

As an RN Resident, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. All the while, you will continue growing as an RN and gaining extensive hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, rapidly evolving healthcare setting.

A caregiver in this position works rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non‑inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
