Job Summary:

The Level I Novice Registered Nurse is an entry-level nurse who has graduated from an accredited nursing program without clinical RN experience. The nurse is responsible for developing the skills necessary for competent Level II nursing practice within one year of employment at Mary Washington Healthcare.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate nursing care and oversee licensed and unlicensed personnel, utilizing the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Engage patients, families, and the healthcare team in care planning, education, and discharge planning.
  • Communicate the care plan and pertinent information effectively among team members.
  • Assist leadership in defining standards of excellence and participate in improving patient care services.
  • Contribute to performance and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in daily operational activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
  • Participate in committees related to nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with no prior RN experience.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire.
  • AHA ACLS Provider certification required within 90 days.
  • AHA PALS Provider certification required within 90 days.
  • NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification required within 90 days.
  • ENA ENPC & TNCC certifications required within 1 year of hire.
