Job Summary:

The Level I Novice Registered Nurse is an entry-level nurse who has graduated from an accredited nursing program without clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. The nurse is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills necessary for competent Level II nursing practice within one year of employment at Mary Washington Healthcare.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate nursing care and oversee licensed and unlicensed personnel in delegated tasks using the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Involve patients, families, and the health team in care, including teaching and discharge planning.
  • Communicate and coordinate care plans and relevant information with the healthcare team.
  • Assist leadership in defining standards of excellence and participate in improving patient care services.
  • Engage in performance and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in daily operational activities ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
  • Contribute to policy development through participation in hospital and departmental committees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with no RN experience required.
  • One year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire.
  • AHA ACLS Provider certification required within 90 days.
  • AHA PALS Provider certification required within 90 days.
  • NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification required within 90 days.
  • ENA ENPC & TNCC certifications required within 1 year of hire.
