Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Float Pool to deliver high-quality care across Medical-Surgical, Critical Care and Pediatric units. You will join a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for rounds and career development in a supportive environment.

The role requires graduation from a nursing program and current NC licensure, with at least twelve months of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) OR Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma program.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required for Experienced Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care using the nursing process per physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.
• Monitor and initiate corrective actions to maintain the environment of care including equipment and materials.
• Participate in professional development by maintaining competencies and seeking educational offerings.
• Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and learners.
• Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and participate in improvement activities.
