Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks to hire a Registered Nurse for the Float Pool who will deliver compassionate patient care across multiple medical–surgical units. You will join a multidisciplinary team and participate in rounds, while advancing family-centered care and nursing excellence.

The role supports new grads (August and December cohorts), with a structured orientation, clinical mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth within Duke Health.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) OR Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
• Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• In the Float Pool, provide patient care and support across Medical-Surgical units as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care and participate in rounds when appropriate.
• Multitask to document assessments, plan of care, interventions, and evaluations while ensuring quality patient experiences.
