Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Critical Care Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for night shift at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Join our ICU Stepdown team delivering patient-centered care with advanced technology and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PCCN or related stepdown certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
