Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center offers a one-year RN Residency Program designed to transition new graduates from student nurse to registered nurse. The program provides hands-on experience, supportive nurse educators, and fellow residents to foster learning and clinical application.

Participants will gain exposure to high-acuity areas such as cardiac care, NICU, ICU, and neuro services, with mentorship, simulations, and an evidence-based project.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of employment.
• No prior nursing experience needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift; report changes.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic response.
• Teach patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans and follow-up measures.
• Participate in an evidence-based practice project and mentor through the residency program.

Education

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State
