Job summary

University of Michigan Health‑Sparrow is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Intern in Lansing, MI. The role supports diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with respiratory dysfunction under supervision of licensed therapists. This is a temporary internship until NBRC credentials are obtained.

Essential duties include assessing patients across all ages, administering therapies, and ensuring safe operation of life-support devices. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is awarded after RRT licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program.
• Clinicals completed at Sparrow Hospital preferred.
• Ability to work on a team and provide patient care per criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and initiate appropriate respiratory procedures for all ages.
• Administer aerosols, oxygen, humidification and ventilator support per protocols.
• Operate and monitor life-support devices; participate in Code Blue as needed.
• Document patient data and orders; maintain electronic records with accuracy.
• Perform RT equipment maintenance and ensure environmental safety.
• Instruct students and staff on respiratory therapy procedures.
