Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health in Louisiana is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to assess patients and safely perform routine radiographic procedures according to safety protocols. You will mentor junior staff and students and ensure quality imaging per standards.

The role requires ARRT certification or registry eligibility within 90 days, a current state license, and BLS certification. Flexibility for on-call scheduling and travel between facilities is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
• ARRT certification or registry eligibility within 90 days of employment.
• Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Independently operates imaging equipment according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
• Adapts communication and approach to different patient populations with respect for privacy.
• Performs other related duties as required.
