Brown & Brown is seeking an Underwriter I to evaluate and quote prospective new members and renewals in our Washington state operations. You will make independent underwriting decisions, ensure accuracy in quotes and policy docs, and support underwriting strategy.
The role requires a high school diploma, progression toward a WA Property & Casualty license within 12 months, and prior insurance experience or a related degree.

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to learn other business software programs. Underwriting at the advanced level of position and difficulty. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in teams. Possess a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, the ability to analyze situations to make decisions, and be detail-oriented. Professional office dress is mandatory. Must present oneself in a professional manner, including personal hygiene and appearance. Regular attendance is essential and expected for the effective operation of the company.

Obtain a Washington State Property & Casualty Insurance Producers License within 12 months (courses and testing provided by Company). Preferred Math skills such as Business Math or basic accounting functions. Prior insurance experience or college degree.
Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day. Speech and hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day. Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor. Ability to sit at a desk on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day.
Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 DOE Pay Range 60000 - 95000 Annual The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
