Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to bridge business needs and IT solutions. You will translate requirements into actionable specifications, collaborate across business units and technology teams, and help optimize processes and reporting. Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills and insurance industry experience are preferred.

The role requires mentoring peers, creating training materials, and providing data extracts for stakeholders. Travel may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Expert-level Excel and PowerPoint in Office365.
  • Experience with system implementations, workflows, requirements gathering and software life cycle.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred (Personal Lines).

Responsibilities

  • Understand the business processes and interdependencies of various systems in use.
  • Facilitate interactive discussions with the business unit and technology teams to define requirements.
  • Elicit detailed system requirements and create workflows to solution business demand.
  • Gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into functional specs.
  • Identify and communicate risks, issues, and potential solution strategies to leadership.
  • Lead sessions with business users to identify system enhancements.
  • Document and gain sign-off on business requirements.
  • Communicate project priorities to IT team.
  • Assist with training material and end-user training on system enhancements.
  • Provide reports and data extracts to internal and external partners.
  • Mentor and support other staff members.

The Business Systems Analyst supports the technology needs for the organization. This role is to act as the liaison between the business and IT and provide business critical or complex technical solutions that meet user needs. Improve business performance by providing the technical analysis of business requirements (including translation into functional requirements), prioritizes of those requirements and user acceptance testing. Ensuring that clear, detailed and concise requirements have been captured.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Understanding the business processes and the interdependencies of various systems in use.
  • Facilitating interactive discussions with the business unit and technology teams in order to achieve alignment on defining requirements.
  • Ability to elicit details system requirements and create workflows to solution business demand.
  • Gathering, analyzing, documenting, and translating business requirements into functional specifications that can be used to design and implement solutions to meet the business objectives.
  • Identifying and communicating risks, issues, and potential solution strategies along with providing status updates to senior leadership and impacted teammates.
  • Leading facilitated sessions with business users to identify system enhancements.
  • Documenting and gaining sign-off on business requirements.
  • Communicating project priorities to IT team.
  • Assisting with the creating of training material and training end users on system
  • enhancements and new programs.
  • Providing reports and data extracts to internal and external business partners.
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting other staff members.
  • This position requires routine or periodic travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position.

Qualifications

Required

  • A minimum 8 – 10 years of related experience
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Expert level proficiency in Microsoft suite, Office365; focus on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with new system implementations, workflows, requirements gathering and software life cycle.
  • Insurance industry experience (Personal Lines – Home Owners).
  • Experience working with offshore resource model.
  • Mentoring and giving direction to peers.

Preferred

  • Insurance industry experience in MGU.
  • Experience with Unqork, Solartis and Salesforce systems

Physical Requirements Necessary On a Regular Basis

  • Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone 7-8 hours per day.
  • Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor.
  • Ability to sit at a desk 7-8 hours per day.
