Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN, seeks a compassionate Nursing Assistant to join the Level 12 Neurotrauma Unit at St Mary's Medical Center. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision and contribute to a healing environment.

Shifts include 8-hour blocks with Day 6:00am–2:30pm, Evening 2:00pm–10:30pm, and Night 10:00pm–6:30am; you’ll work every other weekend and 48 hours every two weeks. BLS certification is required or obtainable within 1 month.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following requirements: 6 months of nursing assistant experience; Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program; Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire; Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program; Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or unit leadership.
• Perform personal hygiene assistance, aid nutritional needs, and comfort care.
• Safely transfer patients and take vital signs with accurate recordkeeping.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly report to RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.
