Job summary

Essentia Health in Brainerd and Baxter, Minnesota seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision, helping with hygiene, vital signs, and comfort. This position supports hospital operations at St Josephs Medical Center with rotating day and night shifts.

The role requires one of several state-approved nurse aide qualifications, BLS certification or ability to obtain within a month, and a 0.7 FTE schedule including every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the listed nursing assistant qualifications.
• Demonstrate ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 month from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other patient support.
• Safely transferring patients and taking vital signs.
• Report changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.

Education

6 months of patient care experience

Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program

Successful completion of an EH provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire

Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program

Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
