Job summary

UPMC Shadyside's Department of Neurological Surgery seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for our Neurosurgical Oncology team. The role is outpatient-based, focusing on care of patients with brain and spinal tumors, including pre-operative, post-operative, and longitudinal follow-up in collaboration with faculty and the multidisciplinary team.

This position offers a stable schedule (Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm) and is based at UPMC Shadyside, a leading neurosurgical oncology hospital renowned

Responsibilities

• conducts new patient consultations, follow-up visits, and survivorship care in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons.
• performs thorough histories, physical examinations, and neurological assessments.
• orders and interprets diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
• develops and implements patient-centered care plans in partnership with attending physicians and the oncology care team.
• provides education, counseling, and support to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical outcomes, and long-term care.
• collaborates with radiation oncology, medical oncology, neuro-oncology, radiology, and supportive care services for multidisciplinary coordination.
• documents all patient encounters per hospital and departmental standards.
• participates in quality improvement, program development, and ongoing professional education initiatives within the neurosurgical oncology program.
