Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center, through its Department of Neurosurgery, seeks a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) to join a growing neurosurgery team. This role supports OR, inpatient, and outpatient care alongside fellowship-trained neurosurgeons, with emphasis on patient-centered, evidence-based care.

The position offers weekday business hours, no call, and a chance to contribute to program development and research opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in nursing and Texas Board of Nursing authorization.
• Graduate of a master’s degree or higher ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing with prescriptive authority.
• Acute Care Certification required.
• RNFA preferred, or PA licensure and credentials as applicable.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications per UT Southwestern policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care across the surgical continuum (OR, inpatient, outpatient).
• Partner with neurosurgeons in daily rounding, patient management, and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with nurses, staff, and care team to ensure seamless transitions and outstanding patient experience.
• Conduct and document physical examinations, order/interpret diagnostics, and develop care plans.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to high-value care.
• Optional involvement in research and program development.
• Treat patients with professionalism and compassion, placing them at the center of care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
