Key duties include maintaining the OR schedule, coordinating preoperative activities, obtaining authorizations, updating EPIC records, and training staff on new workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of experience in a medical office setting.
• Previous surgical scheduling experience preferred.
• Experience with EPIC and general computer knowledge.
• Strong customer service skills.
• PC proficiency.
• Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with department leadership to develop processes and tools for scheduling and patient education.
• Maintains active OR schedule for all faculty and coordinates resources and escalation.
• Meets with patients and families to coordinate care and pretesting; documents appropriately.
• Ensures documentation and consents are scanned into EPIC.
• Participates in daily OR huddle calls and supports communication with OR staff.
• Schedules surgical cases daily using automated systems and manual methods when needed.
• Trains staff on new workflows and implements process improvements for scheduling.
