Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced inpatient neurosurgical care at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. The APP will conduct assessments, manage acute and chronic neurosurgical conditions, and participate in rounds with multidisciplinary teams.

Applicants must hold a NP/PA degree with NJ licensure (APN or PA), national certification, and current BLS/ACLS; DEA and CDS licenses are required. This is a salaried, full-time role with benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires graduate-level NP/PA education and licensure in New Jersey.
• National certification as NP or PA is required or preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.
• DEA registration and CDS license must be active.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient neurosurgical care including assessment, diagnosis and management.
• Interpret tests and coordinate with labs and radiology.
• Manage neurosurgical drains and CSF diversion systems per protocol.
• Perform bedside procedures and preoperative preparations.
• Assist in the operating room within scope of practice.
• Oversee postoperative care and discharge planning.
• Attend rounds and document progress notes.
• Coordinate post-discharge services for safe transitions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.
• Engage in quality improvement and clinical workflow development.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Masters or Doctoral degree in NP/PA program

NJ APN license with prescriptive authority

NJ PA license and registration

National NP or PA certification (AANP/ANCC or NCCPA)

Current BLS

ACLS certification

DEA registration and CDS license
