Job summary

Grady Health System seeks a skilled Coder III to review outpatient clinical documentation via Epic and 3M CAC for ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4/HCPCS procedure coding. The role requires extensive CPT and ICD-10 knowledge, and experience with surgical/ancillary coding disciplines.

Strong communication with physicians is essential, along with adherence to coding guidelines. Applicants should have at least four years of coding experience, and certification as a Certified Coding Specialist is

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of coding experience required.
• Two (2) years of experience must be in a Surgical/Ancillary Diagnostic discipline or 1 year of experience with specialty coding certification in a Surgical/Ancillary Diagnostic discipline.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding conventions.

Responsibilities

• Codes complex surgical, diagnostic, and procedural records while ensuring accuracy reflecting the visit.
• Evaluates medical record documentation and coding to optimize reimbursement.
• Queries physicians when documentation is unclear or missing to obtain corrected information.
• Notifies appropriate individuals of potential non-compliance with Medical Necessity requirements and when services are non-covered or not payable.
