Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred.
• Externship at MedStar Health may substitute for 6 months ambulatory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams, preparation, and education to support efficient patient flow.
• Perform venipuncture, administer medications and vaccines, and document vital signs in the EMR.
• Maintain EMR documentation and provide clerical support and coverage as needed.
• Floats to other MedStar sites as required to meet patient care needs.
• Participate in team huddles and quality/safety initiatives to improve patient care.
