Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Neurosurgical team. The role covers inpatient, outpatient, and OR support, with collaboration among two neurosurgeons and two APs to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include neurosurgical assessments, pre- and post-operative visits, order labs and imaging, develop treatment plans, educate patients, and participate in OR first assist and call coverage.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate of accredited PA or NP program.
• APRN or PA national certification required.
• Current Florida PA or APRN license required.
• Preferred: 2+ years Neurosurgical experience including OR first assist.
• Epic EMR experience is a plus.

• Conduct comprehensive Neurosurgical assessments (history, exam, diagnostic interpretation).
• Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-ups.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative visits.
• Order/interpret labs and imaging.
• Develop evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians.
• Provide patient education on conservative management, operative planning and instructions.
• Assist with hospital rounding, new consults and discharge planning as applicable.
• Participate in care coordination with other providers.

Physician Assistant (PA)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Neurosurgery

Location: Holy Cross Health, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Employment Type: Full-time

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Neurosurgical team. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in all aspects of Neurosurgery including inpatient, outpatient, and in the operating room, and will work collaboratively with our current team of 2 Neurosurgeons and 2 Advanced Practice Providers as well as other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Neurosurgical assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-up visits.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative visits.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians.
• Provide patient education on conservative management, operative planning, and pre- and post-operative instructions.
• Assist with hospital rounding, new consults, and discharge planning (if applicable).
• Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties.
• Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.
• First assist in the Operating Room for Neurosurgical patients.
• Assist with call coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
• National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.

Preferred Skills

• 2+ years of Neurosurgical experience, including first assist in the operating room.
• Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record a plus.
