Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Neurosurgical team. You will work across inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings, collaborating with two neurosurgeons and two Advanced Practice Providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

The role includes pre/post-operative assessments, care coordination, and first-assist duties in the operating room.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited PA or NP program.
• Current Florida PA/APRN license or eligibility.
• Board certification as PA or APRN (or national APRN certification).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive neurosurgical assessments and history/physical exams.
• Evaluate and triage new referrals and follow-up visits.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative visits.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with physicians.
• Educate patients on conservative management and perioperative care.
• Assist with hospital rounds, new consults, and discharge planning as needed.
• Collaborate with other providers to coordinate care.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Neurosurgical assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-up visits.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative visits
• Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians
• Provide patient education on conservative management, operative planning, and pre- and post-operative instructions
• Assist with hospital rounding, new consults, and discharge planning (if applicable)
• Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties.
• Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.
• First assist in the Operating Room for Neurosurgical patients
• Assist with call coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
• National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.

Preferred Skills

• 2+ years of Neurosurgical experience, including first assist in the operating room.
• Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record a plus
